Translating Ling Yu’s Poetry: Workshop at Looren, Switzerland, 2024
Silvia Marijnissen is a Dutch translator. Since 2003, she has been living in France, in the heart of the Morvan Regional Park, where she also runs a small B&B. Silvia's work includes translations of both classical and modern Chinese texts: novels by Nobel Prize winner Mo Yan and the Shanghai-born author Aileen Chang, the 18th-century classic Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin (together with fellow translators Anne Sytske Keijser and Mark Leenhouts). Additionally, she is passionate about poetry and has translated, among other works, an anthology of classical landscape poetry and contemporary poets from the People's Republic of China (such as Jidi Maijia, Wang Jiaxin, Zheng Xiaoqiong, Zang Di, Zhu Zhu, Hu Xudong, Duoduo, Yi Sha), as well as poets from Taiwan (such as Shang Ch’in, Lo Fu, Lo Ch’ing, Hsia Yu, Chen Li, Ye Mimi, Yang Mu, Chen Yuhong).
