Dr. Sung-sheng Yvonne Chang is a professor in the Asian Studies Department and the Program in Comparative Literature at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University, M.A. from the University of Michigan, and B.A. from National Taiwan University. Dr. Chang has authored five books; two of them were published in English (Literary Culture in Taiwan: Martial Law to Market Law, Modernism and the Nativist Resistance: Contemporary Chinese Fiction from Taiwan), and the other three in Chinese (Modernism and Contemporary Taiwan: Trajectories of a Literary Paradigm, Literary Field in Contemporary Taiwan, and Transformations of a Literary Field: On Contemporary Taiwan Fiction). She is also a co-editor of The Columbia Sourcebook of Literary Taiwan and Bamboo Shoots After the Rain: Contemporary Stories by Women Writers of Taiwan. Her current research focuses on aesthetic modernism in East Asia.

Dr. Chang served as the President of the Association of Chinese and Comparative Literature (ACCL) in 1999-2000 and is the founder and director of the Taiwan Studies Program in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin (since 2009).
